Sample Society subscription box review, April 2014

April, 2014 Sample Society Box Review
I received my first beauty box from Sample Society.  Like Stitch Fix, it feels like Christmas when UPS comes to the door!
Here are the contents my April box:
I was sent an email spoiler a few days before I received the box.  To me, an email listing the contents of a subscription box ruins the surprise aspect of the box--which is one of the things that make the experience so fun!  I was able to resist temptation and filed the email without reading it.

Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream and Tatcha blotting papers.
I was happy to see this Dr. Hauschka cleansing cream since I've been switching over to all-natural products.  Dr. Hauschka's tagline is that they've been 100% natural for 45 years.  If you are looking for a spa experience, this cleanser isn't it, but I do like it and would consider buying it when my current Shiseido cleanser is gone.  This cleanser feels like an exfoliant coming out of the tube, is non-lathering and has a vegetal smell.  It was gentler than an exfoliating cleanser and left my skin feeling clean but not stripped.  I haven't used the blotting papers yet, but may need them this summer.

Illume candle, H2O+ Micro-Collagen moisturizer and Butter London eye pencil
I was so excited to see this Butter London eye pencil!  I've been wanting to try this brand and was thrilled that mine was black, not pink or chartreuse as some other subscribers received.  This eye pencil goes on smoothly but doesn't quite have the staying power of my Clinique eye pencil.  I have an issue with my eye make-up migrating under my eyes, so I'm picky about eye pencils.  I didn't try the H2O cream because the scent seemed quite strong--I will give this to a friend.  The candle scent was also quite strong, but pleasant.
Overall, I'm pleased with this box.  The Butter London eye pencil is full-size so I definitely feel there was value in this box.  I will keep my Sample Society subscription going and I can't wait to see what I receive next month!
